ABOUT US - Manna

Manna, the Food Kitchen of Durango

Manna Soup Kitchen was founded in 1985. Their mission is so simple: "Manna seeks to provide, in the spirit of faith and love, nourishing meals and supportive services in an atmosphere of acceptance and caring for those in need."

Durango Daybreak is proud to partner with Manna in various projects and help support their mission in continuing to provide nourishing meals and supportive services here in our Durango community.  Over the years, Durango Daybreak has assisted in the following projects: painting their kitchen, offices, parking lot and facility; building and installing beautiful garden beds to continue to facilitate the growth of nutritious and healthy food directly at Manna; the instillation of the playground at Manna; prepare meals for those who need a nice warm meal; sponsoring a student to learn the culinary arts through Manna's Culinary Program; building sanitary stations to promote health and hygiene practices.

Gardens and garden beds filled with nutritious food!

On the left, volunteers working and playing hard! The playground is constructed!

During the height of COVID, while the local health department was doing what it could to keep our community safe, healthy and managing safe social distancing practices, Durango Daybreak wanted to help.  Thanks to our wonderful member Bill Fredrick, these easy to build and simplistic hand washing stations were just the ticket.  These sanitation stations had a two in one purpose! They also held masks for those who did not have one readily available.

Those beds did not build themselves.  Thanks to many volunteers of Durango Daybreak who spent several Saturdays getting those beds built, and ready for install before the Spring for planting! They are now overflowing with sustenance!
We think our very own Joe Williams may have been embracing his inner Gordon Ramsay as everyone helps cook and prepare a feast!
Mish, mash, prepare that meat! Past President, Richie Fletcher digs in!
Smile! Our very own Elaine Huntoon smiles bright as she and Nancy Galbreath prepare burgers
Busy hands, busy knives, busy volunteers! Thanks Daybreak members!
